Letter signed : the Hague, to Pierre Maupertuis, 1753 Mar. 21.

Denying that he has incited attacks upon Maupertuis and informing him that he has only himself to blame. Reporting that he has seen "almost nothing" written against Maupertuis in Germany and stating that he has not requested anyone to attack him. Alluding to Voltaire and Madame du Chatelet, pointing out that Koenig has was on terrible terms with them and stating that he had no idea that Voltaire was not on good terms with Maupertuis until Voltaire's publication of Diatribe du docteur Akakia. Alluding to Leonhard Euler, sneering at his writings in defense of Maupertuis.
